Reverend Thomas 'Tom' Holme was born in 1881 in Hindley and died in 1953. He was the son of Ralph Holme and Alice Halsall and married Amelia Jackson 'Milly' Grundy. He was a shorthand clerk and typist in 1901 but bt 1911 was a clerk in Holy Orders in St Helens. He had been educated at Repton and after his father went bankrupt went to St Chad's Durham to read theology. He was a chaplain on the Somme.
